06.02.2025. Holy Sermon

Hello dear Friends,

“Revolutionary Love is the call of our times.”

–Valarie Kaur

No In-Person Metta Today

 a day of wrist-care

🌿

I'm here writing, as I always do on a Sunday afternoon, at my dining room table with a view of our tiny patio—but the whole world seems to be winking at me, taunting: "See me! No, me! Look at me over here!" Hot pink geraniums are puffed up in full bloom, a blue angel hosta flaps her gorgeous leaf-wings out for the world to relish, and even the robin in the birdbath wiggles her wet tail at me– I swear she just turned and gave me a wink!

Perhaps you know this holy sermon too, waiting outside your door – summer's kindness longing to take hold of you, to sprinkle you with its soft-tender rain, inviting you to stand on her damp green hallowed ground of bees and blooms and ordinary grace.

“Love is not a small thing it is an act of bravery”

 –Jack Kornfield

May this be an offering for your day: When I am lost, anxious, confused, I turn inward and ask: “Is this true? What would love have you do today, right now? Can I see with the eyes of love.” These questions somehow quell the edge of the storm brewing, cutting right through to the heart. My chest softens, the air around me shifts to a quiet kindness, and then the tenderest of tender voices rises inside. She softly says, "We all get scared. It's okay."

Next Monday, June 9, no in-person Metta due to a continuing education day.

Instead, join me for a special treat, Sunday practice on June 8 at 2 p.m.!

A deep bow of gratitude,

Wini

🌸 Two Poems to Share

Loose Change | John Savoie

I rescue scattered change,

quarters, nickels, dimes,

even the poorest penny,

Lincoln’s liquid eye

pleading from a puddle,

calling to the better

angels of our nature.

I run a foster home

for stray donuts abandoned

in breakrooms on Friday

afternoons, and place them

with loving families where

they feel valued and thrive.

I shuffle the world’s last

newspaper left at the gate,

skim the sports, glance

the op-eds, then refold

it solemnly as a flag

honoring all that’s passed.

I pocket mechanical

pencils fallen between

cars, laid bare in empty

parking lots, miraculously

uncrushed, and together

we write what was nearly

lost to wind and rain,

to silence, time, and chance.

Revival | Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer

For so long he lingers on the edge

of the feeder, as if he knows

I am willing to stand here for hours

to marvel at his bright yellow forehead,

the white patch on his wings—

such an ecstatic thing to watch

this first evening grosbeak

to ever find a way to our yard.

Aren’t you beautiful, I tell him.

He raises his head. I swoon

with raw joy, with full-bodied

love for this bird, for this day,

for this world with its wings.

Was it really just this morning

I was weeping?

🌸 Three Quotes | Joan Chittister. Oliver Burkeman. Michael Meade.

“A blessing of fear in these years is that it invites us to become the fullness of ourselves. It comes to us in the nighttime of the soul to tell us to rise to new selves in fresh and exciting ways—for our sake, of course, but for the sake of the rest of the world, as well.” — Joan Chittister

“True security lies in the unrestrained embrace of insecurity—in the recognition that we never really stand on solid ground, and never can.” Oliver Burkeman

“My sense of faith comes from the idea that each soul has that inner code, that latent talent waiting to awaken calling, that purpose, that meaning. Purpose isn't something we find outside; purpose exists from our heart from before we're born. What we're trying to do is shatter the things that keep us from getting deeply connected and conscious of our own being.---When we do that, we then find the way. So, at some point, we have to trust that the caterpillar part of us, although it's going to resist, is actually resisting the thing we're intended to become.---For me, I use poetry and stories when I start to feel really uncertain. I go back to poems, and I go back to stories, and I go back to songs, for that matter, to be in touch with the harmony within—to be in touch with the sense of creativity that comes from being near the core of one's own soul.” Michael Meade

🌿 🎧 Listen to Michael Meade here on Instagram.

This quote recently came my way, and it's one of those you reread—it stops you, opens you, and elicits a hushed "yes" from your very being. A remembering of Soul, of your sacred impulse, inscribed within you before you were born.

But perhaps this essence-soul self is now neatly tucked away, like the smallest doll in a set of Matryoshka nesting dolls. Perhaps the only true life work that is ours to do is this — to uncover, unearth, and bring our sacred core essence—our gorgeousness of Light—out into the world–to stand up to the bigness of our Soul.

🌸 Somethings to Know About | It’s June 🌼🪻🐝🐛🌺

So many offerings are in the air!

Here are some things to know about.

Things that are winking at me–to explore:

Krista Tippett, the beloved voice behind "On Being," has launched an exciting new offering: "The Hope Portal." 🎧 (13:58 min) a powerful six-week journey into a "muscular, reality-based hope." Free & a free downloadable workbook included. A map to do with community. I signed up!

A Council for Grief Tenders. Do you hold space for others in grief, especially in communal and/or ritual ways? Would you like to deepen your skills at holding space for grief? A beautiful offering by grief tenders– Alexandre Jodun, Carl Rabke, & Erin Geesaman Rabke. Zoom, June 5th.

My dear friend Julie Fedeli, co-founder of Midlife Upgrade, is hosting "Love, Sex & Midlife" on June 19th. Join them for a night of bold conversations, expert insights, and real talk about loving and being loved in the second (and maybe best) half of life.

An offering by SAND (Science & Nonduality)  "The Eternal Song": A Global Journey of Healing & Belonging is a new documentary and transformative 7-day online gathering exploring Indigenous wisdom and healing. This free event, running June 3-9, 2025, invites you to rediscover sacred kinship and bring our collective light into the world.

🌸 Something Special ✨ | A Weekend of Sacredness Close to Home

…where time softens and holiness settles deep within.

Mark your calendars for September 12-14, 2025. I'm currently weaving a dream, crafting a sacred weekend retreat for a small circle of women—a precious pause for soulful replenishment, slow unfolding, and holy time.

Our gathering will unfurl at Soulful Prairie, a sweet whisper of a corner in Woodstock, IL (1 hour 10 min drive north of Chicago)

While details are still emerging, this much I know: It will be a weekend steeped in sacred nourishment, where time softens, and holiness settles deep within.

More details & pricing to follow.

Since our overnight sanctuary welcomes only 10 to 12 women

I'm sharing this dream now.

For priority registration access (a week early) weekend retreat with Wini, sign up here This invitation is a tender gesture, not a commitment, but a gift of early knowing.

🌸 Closing Song 🎶 |  I AM by Nirinjan Kaur

A gorgeous offering for your soul. Put on play, remember. I am✨

Lyrics:

Through the earth

Through the sky

Through the water

Through the mist in my eyes

Your presence

Rising in my heart

Singing through me

Your song in me

Is heard

I Am, I Am, I Am, I Am

I Am, I Am, I Am, I Am

Listen on YouTube (8:19 min) or Spotify (8:19 min)

🌿

“May you know the Beloved’s

song in your bones.

May summer’s beauty walk with you

in these complex troubled times, keep joy near.

May you allow kindness to bring you

to your knees, to prayer, to hope.”

Have a blessed day,

Love, Wini 💖
