10.14.2024. Bees, Weeds & Inside Jobs

"oh hello...”

🌿

A daily, ongoing practice to keep near. Greeting that part, that inner voice, that can be hard on us. That is old, rooted long ago, from tones, narratives, hurts and wounds. Wirings that can fire at unexpected times in spite of our best efforts. It is the work of a lifetime, finding a way to pull up the weeds and dismantle our ‘inside job’.

Good news. We all have weeds and inside jobs. We all get stung at times whether it be as small as an annoying mosquito bite or as nasty as a bee sting.

A powerful mindfulness practice to implore

‘oh hello.. I hear who is here.”

This is the true act of mindfulness. Being mindful of who and what is here and tending to those ‘parts’ of the psyche. Speak to your insides with a tone as kind and gentle as you would say your prayers.

This is one way to come back to a relational home, the ground of being on your insides where you and the Beloved are one. Where longing and love resides. May you go to your ocean edge, the places where the hardening appears and soften there, that is where the light dances and say, ‘oh hello dear one”.

🌸Two Poems to Share🌸

POSITIONS OF LOVE | Hafiz

There are so many positions of love:

each curve on a

branch,

the thousand ways your eyes can hold us,

the infinite shapes each mind

can draw,

the spring orchestra of scents and sounds wafting through the air,

the currents of light combusting like

passionate

lips,

the revolution of the universe’s skirt, whose folds

contain other worlds,

our every sigh that falls against

His inconceivably close,

omnipresent,

divine

body

Autumn | Susan Whelehan

Autumn.

What is that silent “n” all about anyway?

It should be dropped

quietly, like a leaf.

And the “m” should be doubled

or tripled or more—

so it becomes a hum:

a comforting, steady mantra of trust and change.

Autummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…

🌸Three Quotes | David Mitchell. Jessica Angima. Richard Rohr.🌸

“Our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.” — David Mitchell

“We awaken continually. Cultivating lasting emotional stability requires a willingness to look and look again.” — Jessica Angima, “Doubt Is My Best Friend” befriending our hindrances is a part of the practice.

“Toward the end of life, a universal forgiveness of everything for being what it is becomes the only way we can see and understand reality and finally live at peace.” — Richard Rohr, from Daily Meditations, An Unfolding Mystery

🌿 Something lovely to receive. The Daily Meditations are email reflections featuring Richard Rohr and the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) faculty.

🌸Something to Inspire| Look on the Bright Side🌸

Spread Light wherever you go. You are not here to sit in darkness and gloom. Look for the silver lining. Why accept defeat when victory is yours if you will only claim it? If you allow things to get on top of you, if you allow yourselves to look at the gloomy, depressing side of life, it will be yours, because you draw it to you.

Start right now looking for the bright side, looking for all the things you can be grateful for, for all the wonderful things which are happening to you, for the changes which are taking place within you, for the obstacles in your life which you are learning to overcome, for the daily contacts you make.

When you can learn to think of others and forget the self your whole attitude will change.”  –  guidance received by Eileen Caddy

Eileen Caddy was a mystic, spiritual teacher, author and co-founder of the Findhorn Foundation and Community, who received guidance on how to live her life from an inner source she called ‘the still small voice within’ or ‘the God within’.

And this written piece that came my way….

“An expression of faith

In life Herself

Is to sow seeds into dark soil

Not knowing what awaits.

Returning to the patience

Reverence

Grace

Humility

Practiced by our ancestors...

Reminding me to wake up amidst the confusion

To do what must be done to feed the children.

To tuck vibrant seeds into fertile soil

And patiently tend the garden,...

The garden that our ancestors left for us is beautiful.

May we water it well with our tears and our laughter, our stories, and our songs.

Today I choose to plant seeds of hope into the winds of an unknown future...

It's a New dawn.

The time to be those ancestors our grandchildren are waiting for is upon us.

What seeds are you sowing?”

–  Rowen White, from "Sowing Seeds"

🌸Closing Song | Love, Serve & Remember🌸

Love, Serve & Remember by John Astin. This song was inspired many years ago by Ram Dass' story of asking his guru how he would ever be able to return to the materialistic west after having been in India, learning what he was.

His teacher said, "It's simple. Just love everyone, serve everyone and remember God."

Why have you come to earth?

Do you remember?

Why have you taken birth?

Why have you come?

To Love, Serve and Remember….
